The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is not only the largest species of shark but also the largest living fish in the whole world. 

The eastern rockhopper penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome filholi) is a rare penguin subspecies currently visible in two European collections.

The six-spined leatherjacket (Meuschenia freycineti) is one of over 15 rare species living in the New Zealand tank in Osaka Aquarium. No other aquarium in the world displays so many species endemic to the Tasmanian Sea.
